The original builder.

The original parts of the interior of the organ are very similar to the work of the Amsterdam organ builder Christian Müller (1690 - 1763) and his son and successor Pieter Müller (*1738). Characteristics of the school of Christian Müller in this organ are:

  • the order of the channels in the chest;
  • the construction of the pipework.

History.

Müller kabinetorgel bas
The original location of the organ is unknown. From the end of the 19th century it was in the northern Netherlands. Around 1968 it was discovered in a farm house in the north of the province of Groningen.
In 1969 it was bought by the Remonstrant Congregation of Doesburg, and in 1980/81 it was completely restored and reconstructed by the organ builder S.F. Blank of Herwijnen. At this time the case, the original (vertical) bellows with feeder, the (retractable) keyboard, and the stop knobs and nameplates were reconstructed. The probable original disposition was restored, and an electric blower was added.
The consultant for this restoration was Klaas Bolt (1927 - 1990), organist of the Grote or St.-Bavokerk in Haarlem.
