For sale: Kam and Van der Meulen organ of 1842.
History.
The organ was built in 1842 by the organ makers Willem Hendrik Kam (1806 – 1863) and Hendrik van der Meulen (1810 - 1852) for St.-Bonifatiuskerk on Wijnstraat in Dordrecht. Kam and Van der Meulen belong among the most important Dutch organ builders of the nineteenth century. They were trained by the well-known organ makers Bätz of Utrecht and Van Dam of Leeuwarden. They established their organ building firm in Rotterdam in 1837. Kam and Van der Meulen developed an individual style, based on local traditions and an internationally oriented scholarly approach.
The original disposition of the Bonifatius organ follows:

In 1905 an independent Pedal was added by the organ builder
These added registers contain eighteenth-century pipework, made by the well-known organ maker Hendrik Hermanus Hess (1735 – 1794) of Gouda, almost certainly for the Augustijnenkerk (1775) in Dordrecht. In 1929 the Bonifatius organ was rebuilt with a pneumatic system by Van den Bijlaardt, resulting in the loss of the original keyboards, chests, and action. The Pedal was again augmented, now with a 16’ Trombone, in which are found 11 shallots and resonators of an 8’ Trompet of the well-known organ maker Johannes Josephus Vollebregt (1791 – 1872), probably for the organ of St.-Nicolaas Pieck en Gezellen in Gorinchem (1865). After the closing of St. Bonifatiuskerk in 1974, the Kam and Van der Meulen organ was dismantled in 1979. The keydesk, chests, and actions from 1929 were discarded. The remaining organ parts were then stored, from 2006 in Henk van Eeken's workshop in Herwijnen. General description. Characteristic nineteenth-century two-manual organ from the early work of the organ builders Kam and Van der Meulen, with valuable eighteenth-century pipework by the organ builder Hess. Historical value. Of historical value are the following parts:
Restoration and reconstruction. The restoration plan envisions a complete restoration and reconstruction of the original Kam and Van der Meulen organ from 1842, retaining the later additions of historical organ pipes in an independent Pedal, in conformity with the early work of Kam and Van der Meulen. Parts that have not been preserved will be reconstructed using relevant models from the organ builders Kam and Van der Meulen. The Kam and Van der Meulen organ of 1840 in the Hervormde Kerk in Oudewater will play a central role. Bonifatius organ, situation after restoration and reconstruction.
